The ability of a chief to dismiss a deputy chief would depend on the specific policies and procedures of the organization or department. In some cases, the chief may have the authority to dismiss a deputy chief, especially if the deputy chief is serving at the pleasure of the chief. However, in other cases, there may be employment contracts or civil service regulations that govern the dismissal of deputy chiefs, which could limit the chief's ability to dismiss them unilaterally. Ultimately, the specific circumstances and governing rules would determine whether the chief can simply dismiss a deputy chief. **
